The legendary Ningxia wolfberry has long been sought after for its rich nutritional content. With documented use dating back to the Ming Dynasty, it’s one of the earliest known superfruits used in ancient eastern health practices. Residents of the Ningxia region of northern China have enjoyed the wellness-supporting benefits of the wolfberries that grow in the area.

1. ADVERSITY PRODUCES EXCEPTIONAL RESULTS

A myriad of unique growing conditions combines in this region to produce a berry that is superior in nutrient concentration and hardiness when compared to its cousin species grown in milder climates.

The harsh, arid climate of Ningxia is essentially a desert, with the Yellow River bringing mineral-rich hydration to the goji plants.

Scorching summers, bitter winters, and an almost complete absence of rainfall all contribute to the pressure on this region’s wolfberry plants. These factors cause the plants to store up a treasure of vital nutrients that sustains them through the difficult growing seasons.

The Ningxia plain produces what is widely accepted as the highest quality goji berries in the world.

2. GARY YOUNG MEETS DR. SONGQIAO CHAO

1993

Young Living Founder D. Gary Young was traveling the world seeking the secrets of longevity, energy, and vitality when he met Dr. Songqiao Chao.

Dr. Chao told Gary about how the residents of the Ningxia region of Northern China enjoyed the astonishing wellness-supporting benefits of the unique wolfberries that grow in the area. However, due to the Ningxia region’s physical and political isolation, knowledge of this superfruit remained relatively hidden from other cultures.

3. A MIRACLE OF NATURE

Biochemists at the Ningxia Institute of Nutrition analyzed the wolfberry and found it to be one of the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet. The wolfberry is revered for its unparalleled nutritional profile, which includes fiber, zeaxanthin, critical amino acids, polyphenols, polysaccharides, and a distinctive ratio of trace nutrients.

To ensure you’re not missing any of these transformative wolfberry benefits, we use wolfberry puree as the core ingredient in NingXia Red instead of juice. That way, NingXia Red retains the goodness of the whole berry, including the skin, juice, and pulp.

4. GARY MAKES GOJI AVAILABLE TO THE WORLD

While in Asia, Gary also learned that biochemists at the Ningxia Institute of Nutrition had analyzed the wolfberry and found it to be one of the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet. *
